Audreys and Company

If you’ve not seen The Little Shop of Horrors, you don’t understand why I call the cherry tomatoes Audrey. This will help:

Grow For Me

And this: Feed Me Seymour!

Just to be clear, there will be no feeding with blood or humans in my garden!

Now for the introductions. I give you, Audreys 1-9 and their little friends, the peppers and basil:20140630-113628-41788938.jpgI am not sure which are albino bullnose peppers and which are Italian peperoncinis. I will be surprised. I have one basil plant that I rescued from Whole Foods Market for two bucks that is hanging in there. A new pot should make her spring right back. I also do not really know if any of the cherry tomatoes are the black cherry tomatoes I started. I don’t think so.

My labeling system needs help.

The lemon cucumbers may go into a kiddie pool. Then they would have room to properly grow and crawl. I will decide that today, as I have a friend who has one I can have!

While at the garden center Sunday, a fellow handed the gentleman behind the counter a weed. “They are all over the yard. I can’t get rid of them.”

The gentleman behind the counter said, “Roundup. Roundup will take care of that.” I spun my head around in horror.

“I’ve tried that, it’s not working.” I walked away, afraid to hear what kills better than Roundup! I used to use it. I probably have a gallon in the garage somewhere. I quit using it years ago when I heard what an awful, toxic product it is.

Shame on the garden center for recommending it.

How does my garden grow? With mostly shade, good soil, no chemicals, water, and pretty Audreys all in a row.
